2008 GREAT LAKES DECONSTRUCTION CONFERENCE

The Building Materials Reuse Association (BMRA) is pleased to announce the 2008 Great Lakes Deconstruction Conference to be held in Buffalo, New York, November 16-18, 2008 starting with a welcoming reception on the evening of the 16th.  This unique regional conference will focus on the role that building deconstruction can play in rust belt cities throughout the Northeast.  These cities face special challenges associated with large stocks of vacant and abandoned structures.  The conference is co-sponsored by the BMRA,  devoted to advancing deconstruction and building materials reuse nation-wide, and Buffalo Reuse,  a not-for-profit social enterprise concerned with the long-term sustainability of the city of Buffalo, New York.  Visit the conference website at:www.greatlakesreuse.org or more details and stay tuned for updates.

LIFECYCLE BUILDING CHALLENGE

Participate in the Lifecycle Building Challenge 2- co-sponsored by the US EPA, AIA and BMRA.  LBC2 is an exciting national competition to develop strategies supporting building deconstruction and material reuse. Everyone is encouraged to enter including students and professionals interested in policy, recycling, design, architecture, engineering, education, and more. Submit ideas in 2 categories: buildings or innovations (components, policies, educational tools, or ideas) that will reduce waste and advance building material reuse.  New in 2008! Challenge partners will present outstanding achievement awards for Best Greenhouse Gas Reduction entry, Best School entry, and Best Residential entry.

BMRA ACCREDITATED DECONSTRUCTOR TRAINING

The BMRA  offers one-half day and full-day trainings on deconstruction best practice including both management and process.  If you are interested in hosting a training or participating in a training contact the BMRA.
